Sodalite is a blue tectosilicate mineral widely used as an ornamental gemstone. Although massive sodalite samples are opaque, crystals are usually transparent to translucent. Sodalite usually comes in beautiful shades of royal blue color, often with white specks and long insets of calcit. This image is one of the 12 pieces of my series titled The wooden jewelry box, inspired by the beautiful colors, structures and details of gemstones, crystals and trees. About Moira Risen
I'm a landscape architect, writer and illustrator currently living in Budapest. As an architect, creating illustrations for the visual presentation of a project has always been a very important part of my work but it's always been about the concept and never about the picture itself - it took me until my 30s to start to create images depicting my own stories, my own imaginary reality.
